Made it to China!

We’re in the Beijing airport.  We have quite the long layover, so we have walked all over in awe of this beautiful airport.  It’s amazing!  It must be the biggest one I’ve ever seen and certainly one of the most efficient.  We grabbed a bite to eat at a Chinese restaurant.  Soon after we ordered, Rachel realized that she forgot her spork.  Yep, she was planning on bringing her own utensils so that she didn’t have to use chop sticks.  Haha…  I guess she’ll have to figure it out after all.

I ended up getting about 3-4 hours of sleep on the plane, but Mike and  Rachel didn’t sleep at all, even with Tylenol PM.  They have officially stayed up all night, because it’s 6 am on Virginia time.  Thankfully, we get to Shenyang quite late and we’ll be able to crash for the night.

The flight was relatively pain free for me!  Yay!  Thank you, Lord! Thank you, friends, for your prayers.  It was much easier than I expected.  I crocheted a scarf for Jia, watched a couple of movies, and ate like crazy.  I’m a big time snacker on planes.  I have no idea why I get so ravenous.  I even brought my own boiled eggs and meatballs, in addition to snacks we bought.   And I was still hungry when we arrived in Beijing!  Weird.

We noticed something very unexpected here.  There are Merry Christmas signs everywhere!  And Christmas trees and music!  Huh?  Not sure I get that one.  Maybe it’s just for the airport and the international folks?  Or is China celebrating Christmas now?  I’m going to have to check on that one.

Miss you, Alli and Erin!  I hope you’re having fun with Katie and Chloe.  Love you!

Only two more wake ups and it’s Jia Day!  Oh, so excited!
