Catching Up and Looking Forward

Blogging during this adoption has proven to be a bit lower on the totem pole than with the last adoption.

However, now that I just finished the LAST of the paperwork (huge sigh of relief!), and the kids are on Christmas break, I think I'll play 'catch-up' on our adoption process.

Since August, much has happened.  Our dossier arrived in China on September 5 (DTC); it was logged in 12 days later (LID); we received our Letter of Acceptance on August 12th (LOA).  We sent our LOA to US immigration for Jinny's visa approval.  They sent it to China.

See...all caught up.

Now we wait for our Article 5, which is a letter saying we are suitable parents, and that Jinny is able to enter and live in the US.

That gets picked up on December 23rd, and then our LAST STEP starts.  Waiting for Travel Approval (TA).  That can take anywhere from one to three weeks.

Once we get TA, we can schedule our Consulate Appointment (you guessed it...CA) and then...book travel!

We're still not absolutely sure about when we'll travel.  It's looking like the end of February, because of delays due to Chinese New Year, but if things go quickly, we MIGHT travel sooner.  It's a wait-and-see thing at this point.  I'm packing now, just in case.

Here are a couple of pics.  One Christmas card option that didn't make the cut and one from Jia's birthday.
