Today, after an amazing international buffet breakfast, we….well, hold on. I need to tell you about this breakfast.
Let’s have a look.
It was spectacular. There was a noodle bar, egg bar, kimchee bar, pastry bar, cereal bar, yogurt bar and more. They seemed to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had the most amazing Asian crepe. Oh my, it was good. Rachel was adventurous and had a cumquat and a dumpling (OK, part of a dumpling).
After that, we walked around the downtown area of Shenyang. I learned that I’d been pronouncing it wrong (of course). It’s actually pronounced shay-yong. There was a ton of shopping, not unlike what you’d see in the US. We stumbled upon a seven story mall. I had no interest in stuff that I could pretty much get at home, but we found a fun arcade on the top floor, near the food court.
Here’s some pics of our trek through town and that mall. (FYI…it was about 25 degrees. Not bad if you’re bundled up nicely.)
We left the mall and wandered around an underground mall/shopping area for a while. Pretty much more of the same, with slightly cheaper prices. Then, we came upon this.
This is more like it. Much more authentic.
We’re back at the room resting and getting some things ready for tomorrow. We’ll probably venture out again to find some dinner.
Please pray for us and our meeting with Jia tomorrow. I can’t believe the day has finally come. It still feels so surreal.
More tomorrow after our big day…
Can't wait to see some pics...will be praying for all of you.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Mike has a future in modeling. That food looks so delicious. Are the food prices outrageous or comparable to US? Keep the pictures coming!!
ReplyDeleteKelly, Mike and Rachel,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you all made it safely and that you were pain free Kelly!!!! Just imagining you the Stay Puff Marshmallow Girl! WAY TOO FUNNY! I was LOL! Praying for you all and for Jia's little heart too. Trusting that our Father has gone before you in all the meetings.
Look forward to hearing the wonderful news! Love, Kim
Wow, what you guys are doing is very cool. And I'm envious of Rachel traveling to China at her age. This gives me a reason to start learning Chinese.
ReplyDeleteGood luck tomorrow.
