Today, we didn’t have anything on our schedule. We were really just trying to find things to
do to pass the time. It’s so hard to
wait here in Beijing and not be able to go and get Jinny. We’ve been to all the shopping places within
a 30 minute walk, and we’ve made several trips to an awesome grocery store with
made to order food.
We decided to take a taxi to the zoo to pass the time. It wasn’t all that expensive,
(under $25 total for taxi rides and tickets). There really wasn’t much to see. It’s
fairly large and fairly empty. We saw
the pandas, which were napping, and a handful of other animals. Oh yeah, they did have an impressive
selection of wolves. I think the best
thing about the zoo was seeing all the families. You rarely see children out in winter in
China, but there were so many adorable (and seriously bundled up) little
ones. It was great!
It was fun trying to hail a cab for the ride home. We had to walk a few blocks to find a safe
place to do so. Erin is a little freaked
out at how comfortable we are with the city.
She’s pretty nervous and thinks we might get mugged (or worse) at any moment.
We made it back to the room by four, and I think we’re in
for the night. Mike and Erin are playing
a top spinning game. I think we’ll check
out Netflix to see how the streaming works.
Tomorrow, we’re taking a bus to the Great Wall.
Blogger is not letting me upload pictures, so we're going to figure out how to fix that.
